In relation to that last post, I found this interesting excerpt from a Babycenter article on how potty-training differs around the world.
A quick summary: British parents used to start potty-training at 6 months; now they potty-train at around 2 years. Cuban parents potty-train at around a year to a year and a half. American parents potty-train "when they think their children are ready," usually 2 to 3 years old. Chinese and Indian parents start potty-training when their babies are just a few months old.
Hmmm, maybe Babycenter Philippines might want to do an article on traditional potty-training methods in the Philippines (i.e., take off the toddler's lampin and let him run around the bukid without undies, hehe!). Paging Candice? :)

Hi,
Yes, there are many differing methods and they all work. It's nice to be exposed to alternative options though - I am sure glad I learnt about baby pottying, or EC. I am blown away at how wonderful it is to help my baby get 'relieved' and how much it helped ease them in the early days - it's all about 'Elimination Comfort' then. I'm in Australia and the prevailing method is the 'Wait for the child to self-train', which sadly means some kids pooping in their diapers at 5 years old, as folks aren't told some kids simply won't get it without help!
'Potty training' is a misnomer that freaks folks out usually when they first hear about 'infant potty training' (the term is simply to make the concept accessible) - as they think of the rewards based and at times aggressive methods used with toddlers.
Baby Pottying, or Elimination Communication (EC)is baby-led, it is WONDERFUL. Baby is held safely and lovingly in Moms arms as they are helped to 'relieve' themselves. It really is about 'Elimination Comfort' in their early days and results in much happier babies!
If any of your visitors are interested in the idea of baby pottying, pop over to my site for a free guide to part-time EC - I have over 40 potty songs: baby pottying is also about having fun singing, talking, playing with your baby, not about the 'training' - the money saved, less waste, washing load and earlier independence are bonuses.
I can say from EC'ing with 2 babes that yep, it's great fun, adaptable, flexible and do-able - we have cream carpets and rent! The baby wears a back-up - a nappy / diaper or training pants, so 'misses' don't mean 'messes'!
