It's never too early to spend quality time with your children. And "quality time" mean giving them your undivided attention. For babies, one of the best ways to give them this attention is through play.

It was my mom who first showed me how to play with baby. When my son was newborn, everyday, she would spend at least an hour every afternoon talking to him animatedly, stretching his limbs to exercise them, and stimulating him.

I've since learned, too, to play with my son everyday, for several hours a day. Here are some of the things we like to do together ....

Everyday, we do exercises. When he was a newborn, I would bend then stretch out his arms and legs while singing to him. Now that he's three months old, we do sit-ups, and tummy time, and I move his legs in cycling motions.

Everyday, I sing to him. Now, at three months old, he can demonstrate just how much he loves it when I sing to him. When I start singing, he often grins widely, and I can keep his attention for a pretty long time.

Everyday, I encourage him to interact with a toy. His favorite toy is a kicking toy that plays music whenever he kicks it. He seems to enjoy it most when I lie beside him and react by cheering on his progress. When we're out, and he's in the mood, I sometimes dangle toys in front of his face for him to swipe.

My husband likes to play with our son by mimicking the sounds he makes. When my son is in a good mood, he enjoys this immensely. Other times, my husband takes our son out for a stroller walk and talks to him, showing him the different sights on our street.
