Two baby-related scares are currently in the news: the China milk scare, and the new study regarding the effects of BPA.

According to this article, the US Food and Drug Authority continues to say that current products on the US market with BPA are safe (presumably because the amounts of BPA are very small), but at the same time there are scientists who are suggesting that BPA should be banned from products that come into products that are used for food and drinks.

In the meantime, the Chinese agency in charge of quality control is ordering the recall of 69 different brands of powdered milk, manufactured by 22 different companies, amid news that Sanlu isn't the only company that might have melamine-contaminated products.
